There are 3 different exams used for entry-level police testing in New York state:

1. NYS Civil Service Police Officer Exam

2. New York State Police Trooper Exam

3. NYPD Exam

While there are several test subjects that are common to all of these exams, each one has some unique test topics.

1. Recently, the NYS Civil Service Exam for Entry-Level Law Enforcement Officers was updated to include Situational Judgment and Problem Solving. This exam is used by all police agencies in New York State with the exception of the NYS Police Troopers, NYPD, MTA and Port Authority which are slightly different.

2. The New York State Police are now using an exam published by IOS specifically for the NYSP Trooper Examination. Additional test topics found on this exam include logical reasoning and observation and recall of details in images.

3. NYPD manages their own exam. All of the test topics on the NYPD exam are covered by our course.
