California Police Exams
The most common police written exam in California is the PELLETB which stands for POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery. In California, POST stands for Police Officer Standards and Training Commission.
In recent years, more agencies throughout California are giving applicants a choice of taking the PELLETB or some other exam. The most popular alternative is the NTN FrontLine police officer exam. PELLETB focuses on English grammar skills, while FrontLine has more Situational Judgment Tests.
Notable agencies that DO NOT use the PELLETB are:
San Francisco Police Dept.
Los Angeles Police Department
Los Angeles County Sheriff
San Diego Police Department
