NJ Civil Service Police Exam - LEE
Approximately half of the police agencies in New Jersey fall under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. The commission requires applicants to take the NJ Law Enforcement Exam (LEE). The LEE uses a commercial exam known as the LEAB-II (Law Enforcement Abilities Battery.)
2025 NJ Law Enforcement Exam (LEE) Announcement
The 2025 entry-level Law Enforcement Examination (LEE) dates for 2025 have not yet been announced.
New Jersey State Police Exam
The New Jersey State Police now use the Frontline National exam plus some non-cognitive components from the legacy LEAB: the Work Style Questionnaire and the Life Experience Survey. This exam is heavily focused on Situational Judgment and very different from the NJ Civil Service exam and Chiefs Exam described below. The NJSP follow their own schedule on testing.
NJ Chiefs Police Exam
Smaller agencies belong to the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police (NJSACOP) and use the NCJOSI-2 for their entry exam.
